Mr. Shen Sibao is the Dean，Professor of Law and Academic Advisor for the doctorate of law program at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) Law School. While maintaining an active role as a member of the Group of Law of the Degree Commission under the State Council in China, he also serves as the Chairman of China International Economic Law Studies Association and the Special Advisor to the Supreme Court in China.
Since early 1990's, Mr. Shen Sibao has been the senior Arbitrator of the China International Economic & Trade Arbitration Commission and served as Vice-Chairman from 1996 to 2004. He is also a distinguished arbitrator in many international and national arbitration institutions, such as GAFTA, the Arbitration Chamber of Paris, Korea Commercial Arbitration Board and Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen Arbitration Commission. He is a conciliator of International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes.
Mr. Shen Sibao graduated from Peking University Law School with an L.L.M. degree. He was a recipient of Fulbright Scholarship and went to Columbia University Law School in the U.S. as a visiting scholar in 1981. Based on all these academic background, Mr. Shen Sibao has been a preeminent legal expert in many areas of Chinese and international commercial law both domestic and abroad, especially in international commercial law.?
Mr. Shen Sibao acquired his lawyer qualification in 1984 and founded Beijing Hua Mao Law Firm in 1995. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Beijing Hua Mao & Gui Gu Law Firm.? With extensive professional experience, especially in arbitration, Mr. Shen Sibao has successfully assisted his clients in hundreds of arbitration cases, ranging from international trade, real estate, international commercial disputes to security and others. He has been involved in the arbitrations both domestic and abroad, such as ICC Arbitration Court, GAFTA, the Arbitration Chamber of Paris, Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC) and Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), etc.
As a well-known scholar, Mr. Shen Sibao has done in-depth legal research concerning legal issues in the areas of international trade, international investment, international commercial dispute settlement and real estate. He has been invited to participate in the drafting and amending process of foreign investment related laws, the Foreign Trade Law, the Corporation Law and the Arbitration Law.
Mr. Shen Sibao has been frequently invited to attend academic activities held in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Korea, France, German, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. He has written extensively in the areas of international investment law and international trade law, such as The General Introduction of the Corporation Law in the Western Countries, Model Corporation Law in the U.S., International Investment Law, the Establishment and Management of the Stock Enterprises, International Commercial Law, Foreign-related Business Law in China and more than 100 law review articles in either Chinese or English.
