Qimeng HAN? ???Global Partner, Gide Loyrette Nouel? ???????


Qimeng HAN is a global partner in Gide Loyrette Nouel, a French law firm, and acting now as the Chief Representative of its Shanghai office. His practice is concentrated mainly on investment projects, in particular, on mining rights, construction laws and real estate projects. He also has an extensive experience in financial engineering, mergers and acquisitions of enterprises, private equity investment, banking and tax law. He advises Chinese and foreign investors on the appropriate investment structures and procedures for investment in China, with his edge-cutting insight in project risk, intangible assets and tax. He is deeply involved in the process of shareholding system reform and privatisation sponsored by the World Bank, foreign investors and the Chinese government with his expertise in various fields of Chinese business law.

Qimeng HAN joined Gide Loyrette Nouel¡¯s Beijing office in 1995. He had focused on foreign direct investment projects in China since then, and the aggregate amount of projects handled by him goes over five billion US dollars (particularly in public utilities such as water, electricity and environmental protection, mine investment and construction, cement and building materials production, pharmaceutical production, software development, agricultural and food processing and retail sectors). He has acted as counsel to numerous investors for the acquisition and restructuring of Chinese and foreign companies.
He has also participated in a series of projects for optimization of tax arrangement (such as car manufacturing lines of the joint venture in Xiaogan, Hubei, PRC, financial analysis for the automobile production industry share & acquisition project between Renault and a Sino-Japanese joint venture in Beijing, offshore oil rig construction, airport management) and in financial operations for industrial projects (cement plant, wastewater treatment).

Qimeng HAN is one of the co-authors of the "Practical China Staff Management" edited by Tanner Menzies. Several of his articles about China¡¯s taxation have been published on "China Law and Practice". In 2003, he made a speech on real estate tax system at the forum conference organized by Ministry of Finance of the PRC and sponsored by World Bank. One of his essays was included in ¡°Euro-currency Derivation and Risk Management Manual¡±. ?From 2004 to 2005, he published several articles in magazines such as ¡°Asian Legal Business¡± and ¡°Legal Manager¡±.
