George Q. Fu is the Managing Partner of Watson and Band Law Offices in Shanghai and the Arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Committee. Before he went into private practice, he was Judge and Presiding Judge of Shanghai High People’s Court, specializing in civil, commercial and intellectual property matters.

As a judge of the High Court for 14 years, Mr. Fu is very experienced in civil, corporate, financial, commercial and intellectual property areas. Mr. Fu also has experience in legal practice in China and abroad since he had worked for several law offices in the United States before he set up his own law practice in China in 1999. His working language is Chinese, English and Russian.

As a litigator, Mr. Fu handles various complex commercial dispute matters. Most of his work is involved with international-related factors. He has represented many multinational and local companies in many multimillion-dollar litigation and arbitration cases. In addition, Mr. Fu is a very experienced arbitrator, who has conducted numerous arbitrations. Mostly, he served as chief arbitrator appointed by Shanghai Arbitration Committee to try the commercial disputes involving international and Chinese companies.

George Q. Fu actively involves in various projects concerning rule of law in China. He has been working with US Consulate General in Shanghai, Mansfield Foundation and Asia Foundation on various issues regarding China judiciary reform and rule of law matters. In conjunction with Asia Foundation, George Fu together with his firm hosted and assisted Asia Foundation in training North Korea government officials on legal reforms in economic, trade and financial areas.

George Q. Fu holds law degrees in Fudan University, China, Capital University, United States and Moscow State University, Russia.

George Q. Fu is an active speaker on rule of law in China, litigation, corporate, financing, commercial matters and intellectual property matters, and has publications covering litigation, commercial, civil and intellectual property areas.
